Statistics About This Year’s Raffle

This year the Community Assistance Raffle helped 107 Community organisations in their fund-raising. These ranged, alphabetically from Ballan Anglers Club to the Zonta Club of Melton. We issued 151,000 tickets, of which 107,000 were sold. The raffle works on the principle that our club organises the raffle, purchases the prizes, and issues tickets.  The raffle is run entirely by volunteers and all costs incurred are due to the cost of prizes, legislative compliance, printing, etc.
For each $2 ticket sold, the participating club keeps $1.60 and we get $0.40 as a contribution to the cost of the raffle.  The costs of the prizes and administration are greater than the amount returned from ticket sales and is subsidised by us.
This year the raffle raised around $171,000 for community groups whilst costing the Rotary Club of Ballarat South about $20,000. We consider this to be a great investment in our community.
The raffle has been running for over 25 years, and has raised many millions for the community and we expect it will for many years to come.
